Thesis Title
Decision-making in the women-midwife Dyad: A relational undertaking
Read article at Massey Research Online:
Through discussions and conversations with women and midwives in New Zealand and Canada, Ms Noseworthy explored decision-making in the woman-midwife relationship. 聽Influenced by the importance of relationships, our ideas of ourselves and others, and social and political circumstances Ms Noseworthy developed not only a model that increases the understanding of decision-making in the woman/family-midwife relationship but a new relational research methodology which recognises the complexity of influences on the researcher and participants and their involvement together, in constructing knowledge. This methodology will be useful in midwifery research as well as other health research in which long-term relationships are established.
