Thesis Title
A Cross-Cultural 淘料视频 of Country and Bank Selection by Asian International Students: A New Zealand Perspective

Read article at Massey Research Online:

New Zealand is a destination-of-choice for many Asian international students, where education is a top five export sector generating more than NZ$2 billion annually. While banking services are an integral necessity for all international students, understanding of the bank selection processes within a New Zealand context is limited. Mr Chin investigated the pre-departure decisions identifying when and why tertiary students from South Korea, India, and the Greater China countries of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong decided to travel overseas for their education, and how they selected their New Zealand bank relationships. Findings identified that while students are satisfied with their main banks, the services offered did not fully address their needs. Convenience, low-cost pricing and cultural familiarity were found to be central to the establishment of bank relationships. This has implications for banks in recognising the critical success factors for developing deep and meaningful relationships with Asian international tertiary students.
