Vicki Walsh

Senior Lecturer

School of Veterinary Science

After completing a three year anaesthetic residency at 淘料视频 at the end of 1998 I took some time out to work in a general veterinary practice and act as the primary anaesthetist for several equine research projects through Massey Equine Research. I returned to 淘料视频 full time in 2001 as a Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia in 2008. As the primary anaesthetist at Massey since 2007 I have contributed the majority of teaching of both the veterinary ungraduate program as well as the diploma and more latterly the bachelor of Veterinary Technology qualifications. My time is divided evenly between clinical, teaching and administrative duties. Most of my research inputs therefore involve minimising the morbidity and mortality of anaesthetised research animals and clinical patients.

Research Expertise

Research Interests

My primary area of interest is the prevention of anaesthetic related morbidity and mortality. I have focused my research on attempting to qualifying and quantifying the incidence of anaesthetic complications. This is achieved by clinically based observational studies and practical methods of identification of these problems so to improve the standard of care of anaesthetised veterinary patients throughout New Zealand veterinary practices.
