Dr Aue Te Ava BS, MS, PhD

School of Sport, Exercise and NutritionDr Aue Te Ava gained his educational background and qualifications in Sports and Exercise Science majoring in physical education at Brigham Young University of Hawaii, Master of Education in adaptive physical education from the College of Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science of the University of Hawaii at Manoa Campus, and Doctor of Philosophy in physical education of the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland. As a former physical education teacher, Aue taught in primary and secondary school in Hawaii, Cook Islands, and New Zealand. Also, lectured and course coordinated physical education courses at Charles Darwin University-Northern Territorial of Australia, University of the South Pacific in Fiji, and currently in the School of Sports, Exercise, and Nutrition (SSEN) at 淘料视频. Aue’s scholarship and leadership of research are not limited to health and physical education but also traditional sports and games in the Pacific, culturally responsive pedagogy, health and wellbeing of Pacific youth, teacher education, farming and livelihood, and health for Pacific people (Falah), Indigenous/Pacific methodologies models and frameworks, inclusive physical education, climate change and mobility in the Pacific, and Pacific Sports and Policy. These research experiences enabled Aue to contribute broadly to examining PhD’s and Master of Education Students, and supervising and co-supervising research students who are studying towards a Master of Public Health/Education and PhD at 淘料视频.
Dr Aue Te Ava is a Physical Education and Sport Lecturer, based on Manawatu campus in Palmerston North. Currently, Aue is involved in coordinating several courses, and provides postgraduate supervision. Aue is engaged in various research projects in the Pacific Island community in the Manawatu region, New Zealand, and the South Pacific Island region. An important part of being with Pasifika community is their knowledge of cultural values and activities of tradition in physical education and sport for development and how these enhances their wellbeing, and how these are situated in a social cultural setting that is culturally responsive.
